The Day Village
A Sanctuary for Families, Connection, and Community Wellbeing
Location: Withcott, Lockyer Valley, QLD
Open: Tuesdays & Wednesdays, 9 AM – 12 PM
Project Lead: Aeirlugh “Lu” Graw
Affiliation: Student Care & Welfare Queensland (SCWQ)
About the Project
Nestled on 25 acres in the heart of Withcott, The Day Village is a community sanctuary created for parents, carers, children, and individuals seeking connection, support, and belonging.
The space operates as both a family wellbeing centre and a “village in action”—a place where community care is lived, not just spoken about. Visitors come to rest, share a cup of tea, enjoy nature, and connect with others in a gentle, welcoming atmosphere.
Founded through SCWQ’s vision of holistic community wellbeing, The Day Village offers a calm and nurturing environment where people can take a breath, form friendships, and rediscover the strength that comes from togetherness.
What Happens at the Day Village
Each Tuesday and Wednesday morning, the gates open to laughter, conversation, and connection. Activities and gatherings vary, but may include:
-
Tea and Conversations – Slow mornings with good company and gentle support.
-
Creative Spaces – Art, craft, and music sessions that invite both children and adults to create freely.
-
Nature Play – Exploring the gardens, trees, and natural play areas around the property.
-
Wellbeing Workshops – Informal sessions that support mental health, parenting, and self-care.
-
Community Cuppas & Gatherings – Open-door mornings where everyone is welcome.
Whether you stay for ten minutes or the whole morning, you’ll find warmth, care, and community.
Our Mission
The Day Village exists to nurture belonging, balance, and wellbeing. It offers a bridge between isolation and community, supporting individuals and families through:
-
Genuine human connection
-
Shared responsibility and care
-
Access to practical support and resources
-
Gentle, non-judgmental companionship
It’s a small act of love with a big ripple effect—strengthening the social fabric of the Lockyer Valley, one morning at a time.
Meet the Project Lead
Aeirlugh “Lu” Graw is the heart and hands behind The Day Village. With her welcoming presence, creative spirit, and gift for hospitality, she has built a space where every person feels seen and safe.
Through simple acts—sharing tea, listening deeply, or offering a kind word—Lu reminds us that care doesn’t need to be complicated to be powerful. Her leadership embodies SCWQ’s core mission: to create spaces where compassion and community can thrive.
